Portugal is one of Europe's great food destinations. But if you have a food allergy or follow a specific diet, eating out here can feel like navigating a minefield. Restaurant websites rarely list allergens. Google results are unreliable. And asking staff can be a lottery, even in good restaurants.
We decided to do the work properly. We contact restaurants directly, ask the right questions about ingredients, kitchen practices, and cross-contamination risk, and publish the answers in one place. The result is a directory you can actually trust.
We contact restaurants via Instagram and email, no cold calls, no forms. We introduce SpoonZoom and explain why it matters to allergy-aware diners.
Once a restaurant is ready, we share a detailed survey covering 19 dietary categories: gluten-free, dairy-free, peanut-free, egg-free, shellfish-free, vegan, and more. We ask about dedicated menu options, kitchen practices, and specific cross-contamination risks.
We read every response carefully. If something is unclear, we follow up. We flag potential risks (like shared fryers) so diners can make informed decisions.
Verified listings go live with their full dietary profile. We check back with restaurants periodically to make sure information stays accurate as menus change.
